A Division of U.S. Route 6 Tourist Association

“NEBRASKA”

YESTERDAY, TODAY, TOMORROW AND BEYOND

Economic Development and Cultural Preservation

Welcome Jerry Johnson the newly appointed Executive Director of the Nebraska U.S. Route 6 Tourist Association. Jerry returned to his hometown of Sutton, Nebraska in 2005 after 44 years, most of which was spent with the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.
He immediately became involved in the local historical society and is currently on the Tourism and Publicity Committee of the Sutton Chamber of Commerce.

“Route 6 was a critical transportation and communications link in the development of Nebraska and neighboring states. I hope to preserve the memory of that contribution and look forward to working with the citizens of Nebraska to make the Cornhusker portion of Route 6 the central hub of the Association and the extended Route 6 community.”

A major challenge for the Nebraska Association is to create economic growth in the inner cities, small towns and rural communities. Jerry invites others to join the team as active members and believes we can prepare a bright future for the young people now living along the Grand Old Highway.

High school and college students are encouraged to join the Association’s internship program. There are no membership dues for full-time students or active military personnel.
